On Producing, with Jon Shestack

Martin Groves at THR gives a great interview piece with Jon Shestack, who produced Dan in Real Life recently. He offers some good advice and stories about pulling together huge players to get big budget movies done.

In the online world, the budgets are smaller, but the roles are the same. Producers have to bring together talent, concepts, audiences, and finances to get a story told. All that, and there’s no formula for getting traction in a crowded online landscape. But the risk is worth it, I feel. It’s a part of this entrepreneurial world of online video, where anything is possible, so trying new things is not just encouraged, it’s imperative.
