Innovation

The Economist has a nice little bio on Evan Williams, the creator of Blogger and Twitter, who ideas that are wildly popular and are allowing people to change the world of communications.

Among the nuggets in the piece:

“Radical constraints, he believes, can lead to breakthroughs in simplicity and entirely new things.”

When thinking of innovation in our own business, the world of online video, there really are no constraints on how to weave a story together or how to deliver it, etc. etc. etc. That can be a scary thing, because without constraints, there are no guideposts along the way. Constraints are actually a good thing, and can challenge us to come up with ingenious solutions that we never would have otherwise come to.

What way can you give yourself an artificial constraint that will drive you to think differently? How can you do something in less time, with less money, and with less hands-on work?
