Sometimes you should take a break from strategy and upload random photos you’ve taken with your phone’s camera.

Surrender the Booty: Was this a T-Shirt I saw? Who knows. Got Fish? Nothing makes me angrier than seeing this tired, unoriginal motif played out over and over again. Got Paint? Again. And yes, I took this while driving.

Las Vegas: A hotel room I stayed at in Vegas (by myself with two queen beds. What’s that about?). Pacific Coast Highway: Someone was driving slow on my way to work in Malibu. I got angry until I realized that he was looking at the incredible view. I did the same. Smallest Puppy Ever. My wife’s favorite moment of the year. By far.

Interesting what you can capture and forget about. None of these photos are stellar, but they all tell a short story. As we go back into production, we must remember that compelling stories can come from anywhere.

I’m excited about shooting in HD and getting a crew and cast together, but it’s also a good time to remember our roots. Simple stories, done right, can move people.
